Care. Built in.

What can a construction company be?

At Orange Property, we want better for our industry. We’re seeking to redefine standards with our approach based on the principles of Care, Consideration and Communication. Our Commitment to Care means we treat every property with the same respect and attention to detail as we would our own.

How we are doing it

At Orange Property, consideration and communication shape everything we do. We start by listening — to our clients, our team, and our partners — then work to exceed expectations at every stage, keeping everyone informed throughout.

We believe that when you consistently deliver with care, trust follows. Many of our clients have been with us since the start — because we exceed to succeed.

The same care applies to our team and subcontractors. We offer strong benefits and foster a culture where wellbeing, diversity and opportunity thrive. By putting people first, we achieve better outcomes for everyone — and that’s how we’re doing, and growing.

Our People

At Orange Property, Care. Built in. starts with how we treat our people. We believe that creating a supportive, healthy working environment isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s essential to delivering excellent results for our clients.

We offer flexible working options for our office-based team, so they can balance professional and personal commitments. Our management style is based on a “nudge and nurture” approach – giving staff the space to grow while offering regular encouragement and support.

Wellbeing is a priority. Our team has access to private GP services, free physiotherapy, mental health resources, and regular one-to-one check-ins where workload, stress and work/life balance are openly discussed. We want our people to thrive – and our consistently high retention rate shows that this approach works.

We’re also committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace.  We have over double the industry average of women working in our senior leadership team and we continue to build pathways into the industry through our apprenticeship programmes and mentoring.

When people feel their best, they bring their best to work – and that’s why Care. Built in. begins with our people.

Our Clients

For our clients, Care. Built in. means more than great construction – it means great relationships. We treat every project and every client with the respect, attention and personal service they deserve.

We use industry-leading customer service systems to provide transparency and accountability, including full tracking of project progress and issue resolution. Key clients benefit from 24-hour call answering and dedicated account support, backed by formal Service Level Agreements – so they can rely on us at every stage.

But it’s not just about the systems – it’s about people. We take time to understand each client’s goals, needs and concerns. Our team is trained to listen, anticipate challenges and always go the extra mile. Many of our clients have stayed with us since day one and most of our new work comes through referrals and repeat business.

We don’t just build buildings, we build trust by making sure that Care runs through every client relationship.

Sustainability

Sustainability is built into our ethos because we care about what we leave behind. Care. Built in. means thinking long-term for our clients, for the community, and for the environment.

We hold ISO accreditation in Environmental Management and are Common Assessment Standard and SSIP certified. We carefully manage our use of materials, minimise waste, and work with supply partners who share our environmental values. We also monitor and actively reduce emissions across our projects, part of our long-term commitment to achieving net zero operations.

Our sustainability goes further than the environment – it’s about creating a positive legacy. Through apprenticeships, mentoring, and partnerships with local organisations like Sussex Nightstop, we contribute to stronger communities and a more inclusive industry.

Our commitment is simple: we want every project we deliver to stand the test of time – environmentally, socially and economically.

Construction

Care in construction means taking pride in the quality of everything we deliver – from the strength of the structure to the finest details of the finish.

We care about how our work looks, feels, and performs for the people who live in or use the spaces we create. Whether we’re building new, restoring old, or maintaining existing properties, we approach every project with the same craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Our teams are led by multi-award-winning Chartered Construction Manager John Beasley MCIOB, and we hold many high level accreditations reflecting our commitment to the highest standards of safety, quality and professionalism.

Beyond certifications, what sets us apart is how we work. We take care to keep our clients’ homes and sites clean, safe and organised. We respect that construction can be disruptive – so we plan carefully, communicate clearly, and always leave spaces tidy and liveable.

Our team is trained to take personal responsibility for the quality of their work, not just on handover day, but at every stage of a project. We check the details, take pride in the finish, and care about how each project is experienced by our clients.

When Care is built in to every part of the process, the results speak for themselves.

John Beasley MCIOB

Construction Director

In a career spanning over four decades, Orange Property’s award-winning, MCIOB Chartered Construction Manager John Beasley has managed Grade 1 and 2 listed heritage properties, ecclesiastical buildings, new build developments, bridges, hospitals, leisure parks and more. At 16, John began a plasterer’s apprenticeship at J. Cheesmur & Sons, adding City & Guilds brickwork qualifications soon after, and learning the niche arts of flintwork and fibrous plastering. At 22 he took complete control of his first build project, carrying out site management, contract management and estimating, extending his skill set to cover industrial and commercial refurbs, and infrastructure. A period at Allen & Joy - where his reputation bought in 90% of contracts - was followed by 8 years at Rylands, heading large industrial estate and commercial projects. 2008 saw John set up Beasley Construction, covering domestic, ecclesiastical, commercial and industrial sites. Yet success to the tune of a £4million turnover took him away from what he loved most - the building site. In 2015 John handed the keys to the business to his son Luke and joined Valley Builders, where his work earned accolades including four Sussex Heritage Trust Awards and a Civic Trust Award, and then to Godfrey Martin Limited, who entrusted him to oversee works on London’s iconic Nell Gwynn House, Sloane Avenue. Fast forward to 2023 and John completed the CIOB Chartered Membership Programme and his Professional Review, gaining the coveted MCIOB status. It was here Orange Property Group’s MD Tom Lever reached out, asking John to help him scale the exponentially growing company to the next level according to Orange Property’s core values of care, quality, and professionalism. Together, John and Tom are now committed to growing an award-winning, uncompromising, standard-setting legacy, building something beautiful that will stand the test of time.

Dr Tom Lever

Founder & Managing Director

Orange Property Group MD Tom Lever is a man on a mission, to change the worlds of construction and property for the better. A natural entrepreneur, Tom has been in the world of business since the age of 12, managing events and running teams by 15 and at 18, successfully selling a company. Across his late teens and 20s, his life reads like a film script: a humbling trip to hospitals in Kerala; funding his way through med school; recovering from an auto-immune condition; setting up To-Jo, a successful experiential marketing company for the automobile industry; surviving a car crash (over a cliff) that broke almost every bone in his body; enduring three years of physical therapy and reconstructive surgeries on his pelvis, legs, spine, even his eyes; selling To-Jo; and finally, after 10 years, emerging from med school with his GP qualifications. Using funds from the sale of To-Jo Tom moved into property development and was swiftly disappointed with the attitudes he found there. Deciding he could - and would - do better, he established Orange Property Group with a clear focus on Care, both for clients and for staff. His reputation quickly grew. Architects, landlords, letting agents, property maintenance companies and private and commercial customers were drawn to the high standards of respect and integrity he and his team set. Orange Property is now one of the most successful, sought-after property companies in the South East, generating consistent year-on-year growth. Tom has completed dozens of development projects in the commercial, industrial and residential sectors, his highly skilled workforce including award-winning MCIOB chartered builders allowing them to work on heritage, listed buildings as well as new build sites. With a Property Services division on call 24/7 for new and repeat clients, including his own properties, Tom quite literally puts his money where his mouth is. In an industry where staff retention is low and the suicide rate is highest, Tom’s workforce receive free counselling, private GP appointments, physio, training and development. Tom works closely with charities Sussex Nightstop and the Construction Youth Trust. The majority of his staff donate money to charity, which he matches pound for pound. And on top of all this, Tom still finds time in his week for his GP work, with a keen interest in helping those with chronic pain access healthier lifestyles and wellness models for a much better quality of life. Whatever he does, wherever he turns his attention, one thing is clear: Care is very much at the heart.
